50 Things You May Have Missed from Our 50th Year (Part 1)
A big anniversary year deserves a big year-end review. We rounded up 50 not-to-miss educational resources + exciting announcements from 2025; check out the first half of the list here.
Curi’s 50th anniversary year was a great one for us and we hope for all of you, our clients and friends, as well. We reached incredible milestones together; launched new offerings and improved services; produced a wealth of educational content on the topics you shared were important to you; and the list goes on—literally!
Keep reading for 25 things you may have missed but will want to know about and discover before 2025 is through, in Part 1 of our year-in-review. Stay tuned for Part 2 and 25 more things next week...
1. You Told Us What Keeps You Up at Night
To kick off our anniversary, we sent out a survey asking for your thoughts on medicine, business, and life. And you answered, honestly and vulnerably. The goal? To make this not our year but your year. To better serve you in 2025—and for 50 more.
Curious how your fellow clinicians responded? The most common concerns included: avoiding burnout, struggling to find work-life balance, preparing for retirement, trying to stay independent, increasing administrative burdens, fearing malpractice litigation, and staffing difficulties.
We worked hard to help you address these issues with educational resources, as you’ll see reflected in this list. And there will certainly be more to come.
2. Our Founding Physicians Shared Their Stories
Two of Curi’s founding fathers looked back on the company’s beginnings in conversations with Dr. Damian McHugh, Senior Director of Physician Engagement. All of us were saddened to hear of their passings in recent months. We honor and remember them and feel thankful for the opportunity to have shared these memories.
3. 5 Clients Reflected on Curi Then & Now
We loved hearing not only from our founders but also from our broker partners and current clients about your thoughts on the last 50 years and all we’ve been able to accomplish together. As is shared poignantly in this short video: “So many good things can come from a crisis.”
4. More Litigation Education Resources Hit the Hub
In late 2024, we launched our litigation education initiative and online hub to help you better navigate a medical malpractice lawsuit should you be faced with one. And we continued it this year, posting more articles and videos covering topics from depositions to mediation and settling to appeals.5. 130+ of You Completed Our Litigation CME Series
We didn’t accomplish #4 alone. We brought the initiative to life in partnership with renowned coach Dr. Gita Pensa and her exclusive CME series for Curi clients. If you haven’t taken it yet, now’s the time. It’s free, accredited for 11 hours, and structured to teach you how to navigate medical malpractice litigation with skill and resilience.6. Dr. Gita Pensa Got Candid About the Stress of Being Sued
Speaking of Dr. Pensa, she joined us for a special webinar about managing litigation stress. She gave an overview of simple yet powerful self-coaching tools you can use if you’re facing a lawsuit (or any other significant stressor in your life).7. We Published a Comprehensive Malpractice Litigation Guide
To cap off all the great things happening with our litigation initiative, we published A Physician’s Guide to Navigating a Medical Malpractice Lawsuit, an interactive handbook that brings all the hub’s articles, videos, and tools together in one convenient resource designed to help you become a more effective defendant.
8. Dr. Gaither Talked Reconnection & Resilience
As mentioned above, in our anniversary survey, many of you shared you’re worried about burnout and are struggling to maintain a healthy work-life balance. To help, we joined forces with the doctor who literally wrote the book on physician wellness: Clark Gaither, MD, FAAP, author of Reignite and Medical Director of the North Carolina Professionals Health Program. Watch a replay of his fireside chat with our own Dr. Damian McHugh, or visit our blog to discover his top three tips for beating burnout.
9. A Curi Staffer Shared His Book Recs
For more on physician wellness, our resident expert on the subject, Chuck Chapa, reflected on how one book changed the way he thinks about well-being—and shared another to add to your shelf if you’re looking to build healthier routines or help your team do the same.
10. Tort Reform Took Center Stage
This fall, Curi closely watched Pennsylvania’s judicial retention election and offered helpful information and resources for protecting your practice and personal assets. We’re a dogged participant and leader in introducing, advocating for, and maintaining legislation that attempts to allow environments for clinicians to focus on practicing good medicine, rather than fearing “gotcha” litigation. Read Tort Reform: What Healthcare Professionals Need to Know for more.

14. Dr. Caroline Fife Debunked Pressure Ulcer Myths
Long-held beliefs that pressure ulcers are preventable have contributed to stress, penalties, and malpractice claims. Our guest blog, Rethinking Pressure Ulcers: Why Prevention Isn’t Always Possible, and on-demand webinar, Defending Pressure Ulcer Cases by Understanding How They Really Happen, help replace outdated assumptions with evidence-based insights.
15. Our “A” Rating Was Affirmed
In June, the rating agency AM Best affirmed Curi’s “A” (Excellent) financial strength rating for six insurers in our insurance business. All ratings were assigned a stable outlook, indicating AM Best’s expectation that Curi’s strong balance sheet and ongoing strategic initiatives will drive consistent operating performance.

We’re proud to be united by a shared commitment to giving back to our communities.
21. We Took a Deep Dive Into Common Malpractice Allegations
Over the course of the year, we published six entries into our Top Drivers of Risk blog series, covering communication breakdowns, falls, medical treatment, obstetrical issues, diagnostic errors, and surgical claims. Each offers data-driven insights about the most frequent and severe malpractice allegations. We hope the findings help leaders and teams prioritize risk-mitigation strategies and understand the “why” behind patient-safety efforts.
